I have been into art and design my whole life, so it seemed appropriate to go into as a career when I grew up. I am inspired by so many artists it is hard to only pick a few but I have been really into comic book artists lately. People like Adam Hughes, Stjepan Sejic, and Grant Gould.

The shirt is based on the movie My Neighbor Totoro. It is such a cute film and I wanted to do my take on it. I work with a vector style and love hierarchy and symmetry.

Unofficially? Well, to be honest, very little is known. Some say he was born in the 1930s. Others say the 1970s. Neither is correct. It is generally considered fact that he spent the first half of his life chewing up lightbulb-glass for the entertainment of others (and himself) in a Canadian traveling circus. Other prevalent rumors place him as a witness to both the sinking of the Lusitania and the Hindenburg tragedy. His vestigial tail may or may not be buried in a pickle jar beneath St. Peter's Basilica (no one has yet obtained the proper permits to find out).

When I was little I would sit in front of the t.v. and watch hours upon hours of Ninja Turtles. I would sit there with my paper and Crayola's and try my best to draw my best representation of the TMNT characters. Looking back at them, it looks like I was trying to draw with my feet. Since then I have become more mature with my drawing/designing skills and have advanced to pieces that look as though they were created by the human hand.

In college I became very interested in poster art and was really inspired by artists like Derek Hess, Angryblue and Matthew Woodson. From there I started to really focus on poster work as well as apparel design. Each one of these allows me to continuously experiment with my design/illustration techniques, constantly allowing myself to grow as an artist.

When I was working on this design there were a couple different influences going on in my life. 1. The disgusting early muddy winter of Cleveland and 2. The constant downward spiral of a certain local sports teams (I won't name names but I'm sure you can figure it out). I put the two together and WHALA! The Mexican Snowballs were born!

Professionally I'm a graphic designer and I love print media.
I'd say the people I admire the most come from all different backgrounds and have influenced me and inspired me to keep doing what I do: Dirk Behlau, Joel Peter Witkin, Ed Roth, Coop, Les Skuse, Edward Hopper, Herbert Boy, Eduardo Caballero Calderón, Alejandro Obregón, Gregorio Vasquez de Arce y Ceballos, wow! too many to be mentioned.

What I enjoy the most is the process of turning my ideas and sketches in something tangible, in this case a piece of clothing. Turn thoughts into real pieces created with love and dedication

I love bright colors, kawaii illos, chai tea, music and chili powder (don't ask, it's a Mexican thing... can't live without it).

My biggest inspiration are my kids, which by the way it's how this particular artwork came about. My daughter and my son (I'm only 27.. not that old ok?) sat with me and pretty much told me: MOM! I want this and this and that... it ended up in this sugar overload.

My fav artists right now are @uberkraaft, @jonburgerman, @piktorama, @jerodmahutyama <--he does some aswesome Kawaii stuff for Pixar and @jeremyville. And @wotto as always. I have a soft spot for doodles.
