My name is Tony Avina. By day I color comic books, by night I design t-shirts. I'm originally from Los Angeles, but now I live in the St. Louis area. The LA graffiti scene really inspired me to become an artist. The "Melrose" Hip-Hop scene of the early '90s gave me a chance to meet and hang out with some really great artists. To this day most of my inspiration still comes from graffiti artists like Mear, Toons, Hex TGO, Slick, Risk & Sk8, I'm also inspired by underground comix artists like Rick Griffin, Vaughn Bode and Robert Williams, not to mention some of the artist I've had a chance of working closely with, Joseph Watson, Darick Robertson, Eric Nguyen and everybody at Wildstorm in San Diego.

My name is Brendon Rush, I'm an 18 year old Graphic Designer from the United Kingdom, having recently completed a 2 year National Diploma in Interactive Media, and now beginning a 3 years BA Honours Degree in Graphic Design, I am looking forward to a future career in this area. I enjoy what I do, and I hope other people enjoy it too. I am still finding my style and experimenting in different areas of design, as I am not 100% certain which path I would like to take, I think experimenting and working with real clients is a great way to understand the industry, and gain vital experience.

Reppin' for all the day-job having artists living in no-name towns, it's me, Michelle Six. Every day, I go teach middle school children how to draw, use the computer, and begin to analyze art. However, since I do this in a rural public school, I am often battled by haters. Seriously, it is all for the kids, though - they've got my back. Although my paintings and some comics are featured in some local galleries, I have in my past been too lazy to try to be a for-real artist. No longer! I designed this shirt as part of my new training to become a master artist in my own right. I chose a squirrel in a boxing match because we've all felt like that tiny squirrel, right? And, of course, because squirrels are both cute and awesome.

Atomic Sketch Event is a monthly live art event entering its third year of awesome nights of art-making and drink-drinking. Atomic Sketch happens monthly at evilOlive Nightclub at 1551 w. Division from 6-10 pm. Each month a panel of established and emerging artists from Chicago - and even visiting artists from around the country - is selected to create original works of art live at the event. These pieces then hang on the walls and sell for extremely affordable prices. Artists whose work priced in the hundreds of dollars often sell work for $10 or $20! This format allows artists a great community to network in and art enthusiasts a great way to score real art for affordable prices. In addition to the panel of artists, a featured artist or artist group is selected for a 2-month-long show that hangs in the evilOlive gallery. Artists do not need to be on the panel to participate at the Atomic Sketch Event. Artists are encouraged to bring their own supplies and sketch and hang their work to sell.
