I am originally from L.A., but by life and chance, I find myself currently from Houston, TX.
As for inspiration to be an artist, I’ve always had a passion to be creative. Alas, this creative side has laid dormant and unused for many years. So it is my interest to try and cultivate that which I’ve neglected so long.
Favorite artists is a question that’s a bit tougher to answer. I can say that for shirt design, the artists that stick out in my head the most are Wotto and BootsBoots. I’m not sure what it is about them, but they inspire me. That inspiration may not show in anything I come up with, but their designs make me want to draw more and try to draw better than I did the time before.
In regards to the shirt, it was my interpretation of thrift. To use something as far as you can. To use it “To The Nub”. With art or writing, this little pencil has almost done all it can.

Did anyone else ever use to pull the erasers off the back of their pencils?
Evildoughboy
i sure did…and then regretted it later when i needed it again

I haven’t used a pencil in a decade.

I would always pull the whole metal part off, then later borrow an eraser from someone else.
I also recall kids using the erasers to make burn tattoos.

Yay Dicom! Congrats on the print buddy!
There’s still days worth of lead on that pencil.
Kage
Now that is a splendid looking writing utensil.
I like it.

Congrats on the print (and thanks for the nod. that was really sweet)! I can’t wait to wrap this shirt around my body. :)

I love it. For some reason it makes me think of Scantron sheets that we used to have to use for tests.

Love the shirt. Reminds me of taking the IOWA Basic Skills test as a kid. Growing up in Iowa we had no idea that EVERYONE else had to take our test too. Go Iowa!!!

Random idea, but it looks good.
Nice,

My eraser was long gone before my pencil got this size!

Thank you everyone for the kind words of support. I was very excited for this and I’m sad that it’s slowly coming to a close. I’d be very happy to see some pics as soon as people start receiving their shirts too.
BTW, here’s a little gem I found earlier today. Good stuff! :D

Congrats this is cool

Nice design. It takes me back to those years so long long ago. In those days that’s all we had were wooden pencils. Leaded pencils are not good friends to left handers. I use to smear the lead on the paper and on my hand as I wrote. Nice job, DICOM

I’m excited for you and your first print, Dicom! I can’t wait until ours arrive. Congrats again.

Awesome job DICOM. Love the style, got sort of a Schoolhouse Rock look and it fits so nice with the shirt color. I can’t wait for it to arrive!
