Where are you from?
I’m originally from a small central Florida town called Bushnell (more commonly known as Exit 314 on I-75). I currently live in Tallahassee because I moved here over a decade ago and I’m to lazy to leave.
What inspired you to become an artist?
I’m color blind so one day I sat down and made a list of the most difficult vocations. I came up with graphic artist, electrician and member of the bomb squad. I settled on graphic art because I thought it was least likely to kill me. Eight years in the advertising field showed me that electrician would have been a safer choice.
Who are some of your favorite artists?
I’m big into counter culture art and robots. Naturally I was devastated to see the RIPT had a robot week right before I found out about the site. John Lytle Wilson’s work has probably inspired me the most. His “Robots & Monkeys” series is just about perfect — bright colors, beautiful style and iconic imagery. Did I mention it has robots AND monkeys in it?
I’m also a big fan of Stefan Bucher’s ink blot monsters. The creatures he creates from blobs of ink are amazing. He also videos himself drawing every single one of his creations — it’s very inspiring to watch.
Tell us about your shirt?
I got into shirt designs last year and this was one of my first designs. It was based on a “green” themed contest. I could lie and say there was some deeper meaning when I was making it, but really I was just trying to think of things that were green and would look good on a shirt. It’s a plaid frog. You’re free to derive your own introspection about it to impress your friends.

I remember this one! Congratulations on the print, good sir. :)
Raikus
Eek! Old website alert! I don’t really keep the one listed in the profile updated much. Feel free to check out http://raikus.com for current stuff.
And thank you eHalcyon. I’m very grateful to RIPT for finally giving this one a home.

love this one :)

Good job on the print Raikus! I liked this one as well.
rodney
Nice design! Definitely in for one. Question for the folx who’ve bought from RIPT: are the shirt sizes more like woot or teefury? Thanks!
Rodney
wiibur
teefury, but like, longer.

Congrats!! Nice frog~
the_jcw
great shirt, congrats on the print
Paul
Big fan of the Plaid Frog as I like to call it. Been waiting for this one from Raikus for awhile too!

Did you know “It isn’t easy being plaid” is Raikus second shirt with RIPT? Check out “UGLY LOVE” http://riptapparel.com/shirt/07/16/2009/ugly-love
Paul
I knew that.
rodney
Thanks…I find that Teefury’s shirts are a bit long already, but I’ll give this one a try anyway.
Raikus
Thanks for taking the chance Rodney. If you find it’s to long I will personally send you an autographed pair of scissors!
After getting Octodemon I’m very impressed with the shirt quality and fit. The comfort level is amazing and the fit is very nice. Looser than Woot but not baggy like the Gilden Teefury’s been using lately.
Also, thanks for all the kind comments people. It’s made my otherwise dreary Monday a happy one.

Our tees are very soft, some people might even say they are thinner than the average tee, but I am actually wearing a TeeFury shirt right now and it’s much more starchy than our tees. Just depends on your personal preference! I say “collect them all!”
chris
nice design, im considering this one but im hesitant after my experience with the Oh! shirt and lack for response from Ript to my email
wiibur
Yes, the quality of my Ernie the Echidna Takes to the Skies shirt is very nice. But I was surprised at how long it was, but it fits very well.
I was also surprised when an ember from my cigarette burned a hole in the middle of it. >Lol is me.
Paul
I have since replied to Chris.

Love it, bought it – thanks Raikus.
Question for Ript – maybe it’s just a sign I’ve bought too many shirts, but… why no possibility to retain credit card info so I don’t have to do the pesky retyping details each time..?
