Where are you from?
I’m from all over the place, but I currently live in Oklahoma.
What inspired you to become an artist?
I have always bee artistic in some form or another, but I kinda just “fell” into this t-shirt design thing about a year ago and now I am just learning as much as I can.
Who are some of your favorite artists?
I have to give a big shout out to Zerobriant, D4N13L, RTofirefly, Jimiyo and a ton of other people who have influenced my design decisions.
and now on to the shirt….
An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. The crane in Japan is one of the mystical or holy creatures (others include the dragon and the tortoise), and is said to live for a thousand years. In Japan, it is commonly said that folding 1000 paper origami cranes makes a person’s wish come true. With this shirt, I wanted to represent (at least as start) to a to a brighter day for Japan.

As someone who stayed in Japan for 3 months for study abroad, I can only imagine the devastation they are going through right now.
Everything and anything that can help I’m sure is greatly appreciated.
Remember, we are all part of the same world.

I’m glad to see you guys doing this! Those poor people need all the help they can get right now!
Buzatron
Thanks for this opportunity RIPT! I’m glad I could contribute to this cause :)
human713
A great design for a great cause.
Uncleangry
Wait, let me get this straight. I hope I’m really off base here but, the artists only get $1.00 per shirt sold?
Ishisakiraoh
Just wondered, since it’s 5+1 per shirt sold, how much is it per hoodie sold ?
Van
An awesome design for a good cause! Thanks, Ript, for doing this. You guys aare awesome =)
Christine
So awesome. Purchased!
Dave
@Uncleangry
Correct. Artists make $1 per shirt (http://riptapparel.com/service#submitadesign)
It makes sense though. We pay only $10 for a shirt and when you factor in the cost of the shirt (possibly +shipping), printing costs and Ript’s profit there ain’t much left over.
angelo76
I’ll use Van’s words: An awesome design for a good cause! Thanks, Ript, for doing this.
Insta-buy!

midgerock
I am encouraged to see Ript do this. Also I am glad they took the time to get feedback from others in the community and industry when selecting the design. Very sensitive process and the design you have decided on is an excellent choice. Elegant, graphically striking and symbolic. Well done on the design buzatron! I hope the word gets out today for this sale!
SC23
Way to go RIPT! Stay conscience of the world and I will keep buying!!
S-Foxx
When are one of the Godzilla shirts gonna go up?
Paul-RIPT Tees
To answer the question above, $15 of each hoodie sold will go to the donation fund.
Paul-RIPT Tees
Also, we just broke $1000 worth of donation money. Keep it up!
Eric
Is this the only design you guys are using?
rtofirefly
Great job, Buzatron! Beautiful design! And thanks for the shout-out :)
Buzatron
@midgerock Thanks! I have been on Facebook/twitter/Tumblr as much as I can about this today and apperently it has done quite well so far!
@rtofirefly ya, you know the deal buddy ;)
Anne
Ordered two–one for each of my kids. (I need one size larger in Women’s :(. ) I’m moved and inspired by this design and I’ve made hundreds of cranes over the years with my kids! Kudos to Ript, Mammoth, and Buzatron for their donations!
allison
this is not only an excellent design, but a touching decision. kudos to all involved. thank you for a great shirt for a great cause.
PaintedRoadkill
I posted a link up to this place today everywhere I could visit. Hopefully we can break 2k or 5k in donations! I know if I could afford more I would buy more.
Thanks for caring and sharing!
Buzatron
@RIPT thanks again for printing my design and letting me be a part of this awesome opportunity to do some good in the world. This is my very 1st printed design and I am beyond thrilled that it is a print for charity. After seeing the news footage of what was going on in Japan..earthquakes, tsunamis, flooding and the aftermath in the days following…the volcano erupting, the nuclear reactor meltdowns… I was really moved to do something to help out. I think alot of people all over the world were/are.
I have alot of empathy for the people of Japan. I myself was a Hurricane Katrina evacuee back in 2005. Seeing all the news footage lately really brings back alot of bad memories, but I do have one message for the people of Japan: stay strong, be positive, believe in the power of community and family…there WILL be a better day than this.
Paul-RIPT Tees
How about that? Today’s artist has himself felt the pain of being in the path of Mother Nature’s wrath and is doing what he can to help those less fortunate than him.
Bravo!
Buzatron
@PaintedRoadkill That is really cool of you! I really hope that gets the word out!
Buzatron
@Paul yes, and while I am on the subject, I should mention now that I have to thank my wife who has always been such a great supporter. Regarding Hurricane Katrina, She published a book in fact that is based her diary during that time. It is available at Amazon and as a Kindle download. All profit from copies of “The Katrina Diary” sold in March will be donated to the International Federation of Red Cross/Red Crescent. Click on the link on my username for more info.
Chris
Sold! Thanks for the a great way to help RipT and Buzatron
Evan, you are an idiot. If Japan can forgive us for Hiroshima, who are we to hold grudges? Nothing they did to us even comes close to the horror we caused them.
robandscot
Free Hugs for such a great idea! Sent this link out to everyone, Thanks for doing this!
LilFonz
Huge positive karma to Buzatron for donating his profit, that’s so nice.
thunderverna
Bought.
Kudos to Ript and Buzatron – I’m not a big fan of white tees but it’s a pretty small ‘sacrifice’ to make in the circumstances.
Just realized how much this design reminds me of the end of Star Trek IV, when they crash the Klingon ship into the water (when they need to save the whales to save the world)….
I loved that image in the movie and it’s a great feeling to get from a tee!
Buzatron
@thunderverna I remember that movie well! I am also a HUGE Star Trek fan, however no Kligon ships or whales were harmed (or referenced!) in the making of this shirt ;) Thanks for buying!
dubknot
This concept is bad-assed 360 degrees around! I hope for the best for our Japanese brothers and sisters.
blue_rogue
I saw this earlier today and I’m glad I just remembered about it before it was too late. Ordered 2.
Buzatron
WOW! What an awesome day this was! Thank you so much RIPT for letting me be a part of this! Thanks to everyone who bought a shirt and shared the link with your friends and family. The internet is an amazing and wonderful tool to reach THOUSANDS of people in a very short amount of time and I hope that the proceeds from this sale will help out a little in the massive aid efforts in Japan. ROCK ON RIPT!
masfuego
Will you be selling anymore?? I missed it by a few minutes :(

So can I buy one?
hui wu

beth
In case anyone else is staring at the mailbox, I ordered two shirts and they just arrived in Arid-Zona today, 1 April.
Just wondering…apparently someone named Eric made a comment that has been removed.
RIPT, today was my last order.
I won’t support a site that censors free speech, however odious.
This is still America.
Cheers, bye.
CF27
Yeah, I am with paul above….there still is a ticker but no ability to buy? Is the T still available?
Oh, and I guess you gotta love Beth (someone needs to), who is going to \ban\ you for removing a seemingly obviously \odious\ statement instead of supporting you for your efforts to provide relieve after the unimaginable ruin in Japan. Bye Beth.
