Artist: Jason Brammer
Curated by: Paul Friemel
Jason Brammer is an internationally-collected visual artist and painter based in Chicago, IL. Jason’s paintings are created with acrylic paint, transparent glazes, plasters, resins, and other media, using a combination of airbrushing and traditional brush painting techniques. Over the years, his paintings have been inspired by industrial urban landscapes, graffiti, patterns in nature, Eastern art traditions, music, and spiritual iconography. Jason describes his current original artwork as “photo-surrealistic”, meaning that he paints surrealistic (and sometime futuristic) imagery in a photo-realistic style.
Jason was born in Lancaster, Ohio in 1974 and grew up primarily in Indianapolis, Indiana. His art education includes studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia and at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
Jason currently resides in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood with his wife, Erin, and their two cats. He spends much of his time creating artwork in his Ukrainian Village studio, and participates in numerous exhibitions and art events. At many art venues and events, such as “Cocktails and Clay” at the Hyde Park Art Center, Eyeporium Gallery, and 4Art Inc. Gallery, he has been known to captivate crowds by painting live, and has been honored with awards such as “Best of Painting” at the Wells Street Art Festival in 2008.
In addition to original paintings, Jason does installations, murals, and commissions. He has created mixed media, painting installations for art exhibitions as well as permanent site-specific installations for commercial spaces. His largest installation to date is a configuration of 6 large paintings with connecting mural work and seamlessly incorporated 3-dimensional objects that he created for the I.V. Lab Recording Studio in Chicago, IL. This installation depicts a futuristic alien recording machine descending on and recording over an antiquated pastoral landscape.

Ya’ know, I really like this work a lot. This artist is talented. I checked out his website. I’m not going to buy it ’cause I’m not seeing it as a t-shirt design. Congrats on the printing and I hope that I’ll see more of your artistry in the future.

Thanks for the nice comments! This is my first t-shirt design and it’s been really fun putting it all together. Paul, thanks for your help with everything.
It was a late summer night and I found myself sitting by the pond in Humboldt Park. I was staring at the moon and it suddenly occurred to me – what if the moon was an open portal that led to an alternate dimension. This is how I came up with the idea of “The Moon, My Portal”.
LOVE THEM ALL!!
I will be happy to buy this shirt if you get rid of that ugly watermark.
No offense to the artist but I wouldn’t want to walk around with that name in the bottom of the shirt.
We encourage our artists to sign their art at RIPT Apparel
